Overview

We’re looking for an experienced Commercial Product Owner to help shape the next phase of our enterprise transformation and evolve how Screwfix manages its commercial capabilities.

This is not a traditional ERP implementation or project delivery role. You’ll own the Commercial product domain, working at the intersection of business and technology to continuously improve the platforms and capabilities that support how we manage products, suppliers, pricing and commercial operations.

You’ll be responsible for defining product strategy, shaping the roadmap, prioritising improvements and ensuring our commercial platforms deliver measurable value across the business. Working closely with our Commercial, Trading and Technology teams, you’ll help enable better ways of working and maximise the value of our enterprise technology estate.

This role will suit someone with experience owning products or enterprise platforms within a complex retail environment, supporting capabilities such as range and assortment planning, product lifecycle and information management, product sourcing and onboarding, merchandising, pricing, promotions and supplier management.

You’ll join a growing Product team within Core Technology, with the autonomy to influence priorities, make informed trade-off decisions and shape the future of Screwfix’s commercial capabilities.

This is a full time role with hybrid working from our Yeovil Head Office – we are open to discussing flexible hybrid working arrangements.

What's in it for you?

  • Discretionary annual bonus up to 20%
  • 33 days' holiday (including bank holidays, 5 of which can be taken flexibly)
  • Flexible start and end times around core working hours
  • Buy More Holiday - eligible colleagues can boost their holiday allowance by up to one extra week
  • EV Car Scheme in Partnership with Tusker - eligible colleagues can lease a brand-new or pre-loved electric vehicle
  • Up to 14% employer pension contributions
  • Life cover up to 4x your salary
  • Health cash plan and discounted gym memberships (up to 25% savings)
  • 20% discount at Screwfix and B&Q

Responsibilities

  • Act as the single point of product ownership for the Commercial domain, with clear accountability for scope, priorities, and outcomes across that domain
  • Own the product vision, roadmap, and backlog for your assigned domain, ensuring alignment to business strategy and the transformation programme objectives.
  • Build strong relationships with senior business and technology stakeholders to understand priorities, dependencies, and constraints, translating these into clear, prioritised outcomes.
  • Own relationships with strategic technology partners, ensuring service performance, product roadmaps and future capabilities remain aligned to Screwfix’s commercial priorities.
  • Own and prioritise the product backlog, balancing business value, risk, technical complexity, and delivery capacity to maximise outcomes.
  • Work with business teams to define feature propositions, document assumptions, and shape minimum viable propositions (MVPs) that deliver value quickly and safely.
  • Agree, track, and report on delivery and outcome-based metrics, ensuring progress and benefits realisation are visible to stakeholders.
  • Lead ongoing backlog refinement to ensure work is ready for upcoming sprints, adjusting scope and priorities based on delivery outcomes and learning.
  • Partner with Delivery Leads to plan releases, manage dependencies, and ensure delivery is aligned with wider business priorities and milestones.
  • Work closely with Solution Architects and engineering teams to align product direction with the target technical and architectural vision.
  • Understand and manage technical trade-offs, ensuring complexity, risk, and stability are considered alongside business value in prioritisation decisions.
  • Track progress towards releases through structured planning, governance, and regular review of delivery milestones.
  • Collaborate with technology and business teams to prioritise defect resolution, balancing delivery momentum with platform stability.
  • Monitor, communicate, and champion value-stream benefits, ensuring outcomes are realised and understood across delivery teams and stakeholders.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
