About the Role

As Orchard Care Group continues to grow nationwide, we now have an opportunity for a commercially minded, analytical Commercial & Project Accountant to join our growing finance team.

Reporting to the Group Chief Financial Officer, you will go beyond traditional bookkeeping to provide the crucial financial analysis, insights, and decision support needed to drive profitability and support corporate growth. You will act as a key partner to non-finance operational teams, helping them understand cost structures, track performance against KPIs, and identify strategic opportunities.

You will also be a key point of contact for the HSE/Tusla and will lead out in service proposal, tender submissions, and business development projects.

About the Responsibilities

Commercial Analysis & Decision Support

  • Financial Modelling: Evaluate the profitability of new business opportunities, commercial contracts, pricing structures, and capital expenditure proposals.
  • Business Partnering: Work closely with cross-functional teams (Commercial Director, Marketing, Operations) to interpret financial data and improve operational performance as well as leading out on new service proposal and tender submissions
  • KPI Tracking: Establish, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify business trends, operational efficiencies, and risks.

Financial Planning & Forecasting

  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Coordinate and drive the annual budgeting process and rolling quarterly forecast cycles.
  • Variance Analysis: Produce detailed monthly variance analysis reports comparing actual performance against target budgets, providing clear commentary to stakeholders.
  • Cash Flow Management: Prepare detailed working capital updates and short- to medium-term cash flow forecasts.

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Management Accounts: Assist in the preparation of accurate, monthly management accounts (P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow).
  • Cost Control: Analyze product cost estimates, track expenditures, and implement cost-saving initiatives across different departments.
  • Process Optimization: Identify and implement improvements in finance workflows, cloud tools, and reporting efficiency.

About the ideal candidate

  • A qualified accountant with a strong commercial background (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
  • Minimum of 2–5 years of post-qualification experience, ideally in a commercial or corporate finance setting.
  • Interested in the bigger picture, whilst able to produce financial information accurately and on time.
  • Ability to multi-task and proven experience of managing multiple projects to successful conclusions
  • Able to make complex things simple.
  • Ability to communicate with both finance and non-financial individuals alike.
  • Motivated to progress within the finance function of a growing business.
  • Able to manage a variety of stakeholders under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to identify issues and use initiative to solve problems.
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Team player with willingness to help others and go above and beyond their formal role.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Good system skills including intermediate excel.
