Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Commercial Project Manager role based in Birmingham. The Commercial Project Manager will oversee the financial and contractual aspects of construction and refurbishment projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to agreed quality standards.

  • Preparing and monitoring budgets
  • Managing contracts and variations
  • Tracking project costs and forecasts
  • Supporting invoicing and payment processes
  • Coordinating with site managers, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients
  • Providing clear commercial reporting
  • Identifying risks and opportunities to improve project profitability

The Commercial Project Manager will also contribute to tenders, support negotiations, and help maintain compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills to interpret project data, assess risks, and support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Excellent communication skills for working with internal teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Proficiency in budgeting and finance to manage project costs, forecasts, and commercial reporting.
  • Solid contract management skills, including experience with variations, claims, and compliance with contract terms.
  • Experience in construction, building, or related industries, ideally in a commercial or project management role.
  • Ability to work on-site in Birmingham, prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and maintaining attention to detail.
  • Competence with project management and office software (e.g., Excel, project costing tools) and numeracy skills.
  • Relevant qualification in quantity surveying, construction management, finance, or a related field is beneficial.
