A little bit more about your role...

Our Building Services business is evolving to support sustainable growth through enhanced commercial governance, project controls, and integrated global delivery. As part of this transformation, we are establishing a Commercial PMO function to support our UK delivery teams.

We are seeking a Commercial Project Manager to support project, programme, and business performance across the UK Building Services. Working closely with Project Directors, Technical Project Managers, disciplines leads, Cost Centre Owners and the GCC commercial support teams. You will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, profitably, and in accordance with business governance requirements.

This role will provide the commercial and operational insight required to support informed decision-making, improve project performance, and enable effective utilisation of our UK and GCC resources.

You will act the Commercial Project manager between project teams, Finance, and GCC Commercial/project support teams to provide accurate reporting, forecasting, project controls and performance analysis across the project lifecycle.

Core Functions:

Project Controls & Commercial Performance

  • Support Project Managers and Project Directors with project controls, commercial reporting and performance analysis.
  • Monitor project financial performance including revenue, cost, margin, utilisation, backlog and Estimate to Complete.
  • Monitor project performance against approved budgets, fee forecasts, and delivery plans, identifying and driving opportunities to improve project margins.
  • Review financial performance and identify opportunities and corrective actions.
  • Support monthly project reviews and commercial performance meetings.
  • Assist with project setup, baseline budget development and project governance compliance.

Governance & PMO Reporting

  • Ensure projects comply with WSP project lifecycle and governance requirements.
  • Maintain project control procedures, templates and reporting standards.

Cost & Forecast Management

  • Monitor project costs and compare actual performance against approved budgets.
  • Support monthly forecasting processes and challenge forecast assumptions where appropriate.
  • Review Estimate To Complete (ETC) submissions with Technical Project Managers and Project Directors.
  • Work with Finance teams to improve forecast accuracy and reporting consistency.
  • Support cost trend analysis and identification of emerging commercial risks.
  • Identify opportunities for variation orders, change requests and additional services.
  • Work proactively with Technical Project Managers and Project Directors to gather the information needed to prepare change orders in the required project format.
  • Support Technical Project Managers in tracking compensation events and managing project change controls.
  • Proactively follow up on change control approvals and feedback.
  • Incorporate approved variations into financial forecasts and confirmed backlog.
  • Monitor project risks and assist with mitigation planning.
  • Maintain project performance indicators and lessons learned records.

Financial Administration

  • Support monthly invoicing and revenue recognition processes.
  • Assist with debt management reporting and billing performance tracking.
  • Ensure project records and reporting systems are maintained accurately.
  • Support audits and governance reviews where required.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate...

Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Finance or related discipline.
  • Relevant project controls, PMO or commercial management qualifications desirable.

Experience:

  • Demonstrable experience supporting project delivery, project controls, PMO, or commercial management functions within engineering, construction, or professional services environments.

  • Experience of Project Financial Management Systems to support forecasting, reporting, budgeting, or cost control activities.

  • Practical application of planning, progress measurement, cost control, and change management processes across project lifecycles, from concept and design through to construction and completion within process industry environments.

  • Knowledge of resource planning and utilisation management principles and their application within project environments.

  • Track record of collaborating effectively within multi-disciplinary teams and/or teams operating across multiple locations and manage changing priorities to meet agreed commitments and maintain performance across multiple workstreams.

  • Understanding of commercial drivers and experience using data analysis to support project business decisions

  • Have an analytical approach with the ability to evaluate information, identify trends or issues and make evidence based recommendations

  • Ability to communicate project information clearly to a range of stakeholders and contribute to the resolution of project-related issues through structured analysis and informed decision-making.

  • Experienced in building effective working relationships with stakeholders to support project and business objectives

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Advanced excel, Oracle and Power BI

  • Must be able to obtain UK vetting level of Security Check (SC)
