Job overview:

As a Commercial Property Claims Handler, you’ll be responsible for managing all claims relating to commercial property. Working alongside the wider claims functions, including Casualty and Motor Engineering, you’ll contribute to the strategic objectives of AXA Commercial whilst helping our customers protect what matters most to them. If you have a natural ability to relate to people and are passionate about delivering excellent customer service, then you could be the perfect addition to our team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensuring each customer feels valued and supported with their claim, providing personalised and accurate information.
  • Staying composed and level-headed when faced with challenges to effectively assist and support customers during their most critical moments of need.
  • Taking proactive measures and utilising available resources to ensure the best possible outcome for each customer, addressing their specific needs related to their incident or claim.
  • Investigating and gathering evidence to help bring each claim to the point of conclusion.
  • Responding promptly to calls, while maintaining a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail, precise and timely completion of case notes, logs, and diaries for each customer.
  • Recognising the signs of a fraudulent claim and referring these for further investigation where needed.

Work arrangements:

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team, and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means attending the office, visiting clients, or attending industry events.

Working Hours & Shift Pattern:

You’ll work full time, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between the hours of 9am and 5pm.

Induction & Training:

  • Induction Date: October 2026
  • You’ll receive a comprehensive onsite induction from our specialist trainers to set you up for success in your new role. When you join us you will join an academy that will give you twelve weeks’ dedicated training to ensure you are fully supported which will be delivered onsite at our Bolton office. Following training and once you demonstrate competency in your role, you’ll then transition to a hybrid working model.

Your skills & experience:

  • Exceptional customer service experience. If you come from a customer facing role, hospitality, or retail background and want to explore a new sector, this could be a great opportunity for a career change.
  • Experience within the insurance industry would be an advantage.
  • We’ll provide all the technology and training, and in return we ask you to bring your enthusiasm, passion for customer service, building relationships over the phone and computer.
  • You’ll have a natural talent for connecting with people, quick problem-solving ability, and a positive, can-do attitude as you’ll be dealing with a variety of stakeholders including claimant lawyers, our customers, and brokers.
  • You’re a great listener, confident communicating over the phone and using computers.
  • Passionate about working as part of a collaborative team.

As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.

This position has been defined as an Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) role under the IDD regime, which means that in addition to pre-employment screening checks, the successful candidate will be subject to background screening every 4 years with an annual declaration in interim years.
