As a Commercial Examiner, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring timely and accurate claims processing for commercial property-related incidents. You will work closely with policyholders, independent adjusters (IA), third-party vendors, and internal stakeholders to assess and determine the extent of property damage, evaluate coverage, and negotiate settlements.

This is a hybrid position.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

• Collaborate with policyholders, independent adjusters (IAs), contractors, and other stakeholders to gather relevant information and assess property damage accurately.
• Review and evaluate IA reports for commercial property claims, assess coverage, liability, and extent of damage or loss.
• Analyze policy coverage to determine the scope of insurance claims, while identifying potential subrogation opportunities.
• Verify the validity of claims and escalate any potentially fraudulent activity.
• Prepare clear and detailed reports outlining findings, coverage positions, and recommended settlement and reserve amounts.
• Negotiate claim settlements with policyholders, balancing customer experience with company guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal company policies throughout the claims process.
• Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and audit-ready claim files and documentation in accordance with company guidelines and industry standards.
• Provide exceptional customer service by promptly responding to inquiries, providing status updates, and addressing stakeholder concerns.
• Stay current with industry trends, legal developments, and best practices in claims management.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in commercial property claims, property adjusting, commercial insurance, underwriting, restoration, construction, or a related insurance field
• Field property adjusting experience is an asset
• Xactimate experience is preferred
• Post-secondary education and/or CIP/FCIP designation are considered an asset
• Strong working knowledge of property insurance policies, coverage interpretation, and claims procedures
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with policyholders, claimants, contractors, independent adjusters, legal representatives, and internal stakeholders
• Proficient computer skills, including experience with claims management software and MS Office Suite
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex information and make informed decisions
• High attention to detail, with strong organization and prioritization skills
• Demonstrated emotional intelligence, empathy, and professionalism in customer interactions
