This is an exciting opportunity to join our Commercial Insurance team as a Property and Real Estate Manager, covering our Midlands and South region. Real Estate is a key strategic growth priority for Chubb, and this role will play a central part in supporting the continued growth of the UK regional Real Estate portfolio. The successful candidate will lead a team, oversee underwriting activity across Property and Liability risks, and help drive profitable and sustainable growth across the portfolio.

The role will combine technical underwriting expertise with strong people leadership, client management, and commercial decision-making. You will be responsible for supporting the development of the team, setting standards of best practice, and ensuring excellent service to brokers and clients.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and develop a team of underwriters, providing clear direction, support and mentoring to ensure strong performance and professional growth.
  • Oversee underwriting of new business and renewal accounts in line with underwriting guidelines, strategy and appetite.
  • Manage and support the underwriting of Property and Liability risks for Real Estate clients, including larger and more complex accounts.
  • Take responsibility for key client and broker relationships, ensuring proactive engagement and a high standard of service.
  • Support the delivery of the Real Estate financial plan, including forecasting, reforecasts and performance tracking.
  • Work closely with claims, risk engineering, global services and other underwriting teams to deliver joined-up solutions for clients and brokers.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, including policy documentation, contract certainty, peer review, audit, legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote best practice across the team and support a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Represent Chubb internally and externally at broker meetings, client meetings and internal production and renewal discussions.
  • Contribute to strategic growth plans and identify opportunities for cross-selling across Chubb’s wider product offering.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
