Commercial Risk, Conduct & Governance Lead
Hybrid / Windsor (expected in office circa once a month)
The role
Part of the Commercial Risk, Conduct & Governance first line of defence (1LOD) Team, this role supports the Risk, Conduct and Governance Managers execute the policy, governance and oversight frameworks for Product & Propositions and Marketing Compliance governance processes and wider risk and conduct oversight. Plays a key role in managing the day-to-day commercial governance and compliance ecosystem including governance meetings, controls, dependencies and reporting.
Supports the embedding of healthy compliance and risk culture through proportionate risk-based decision-making which balances both commercial and customer outcomes. Works closely with product managers, commercial leads and the wider enabling functions and second line of defence (2LOD) compliance and legal teams to support the delivery of customer needs and expectations and regulatory standards of customer value, oversight and compliance.

- Management of day-to-day governance processes and forums – e.g. Product & Propositions Governance, Marketing Compliance, Risk and Conduct Oversight
- Partner closely with Product and wider Commercial Teams to embed governance practices that support business growth and good customer outcomes
- Coordinate and control governance activity including scheduling, minute taking, issuing of packs and tracking of decisions and actions for the Product, Propositions & Services Committee and other governance forums as required
- Work closely with Product Managers, Proposition Leads, Partnerships, Marketing and Change Teams to ensure appropriate governance and compliance input during development, delivery and post implementation phases of Products and Propositions and Marketing & Customer Communications assets
- Co-ordinate build and delivery of commercial training materials relating to commercial policies and frameworks, e.g. Product & Propositions Governance and Marketing Compliance training
- Collaborate with the wider Risk and Compliance community and act as a champion for good governance, conduct and risk practice
- Maintain key governance records, logs and trackers to ensure visibility of status and for sound audit tracking purposes
- Contribute to the creation of MI and reporting dashboards to inform senior stakeholders and ensure appropriate level of oversight in the organisation
- Provide flexible support across the Commercial Risk, Conduct & Governance Team, assist with activities as required and taking ownership for cross-team deliverables and activities – including Marketing Compliance, Risk processes, and wider Risk & Conduct oversight governance
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, bringing fresh ideas to ensure governance, team efficiency and cross functional collaboration
- Take ownership of ad-hoc tasks and projects that align with team objectives and business strategy
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in governance, risk, compliance, or product oversight in a regulated environment (financial services or insurance preferred)
- Demonstrable organisational skills - proactive and detail-focused with excellent coordination and control skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the confidence to liaise with senior stakeholders
- Skilled in managing multiple priorities, diary coordination and document controls
- Good understanding of relevant regulatory environments such as FCA Consumer Duty, ASA Cap rules
- Problem solving and decision making are an important part of the role.
- Role supports day-to-day governance decisions that need to be taken in line with legal, regulatory and policy requirements
- Sound judgement and reasoning will be required to arrive at defendable and auditable decisions
- The role will operate with a degree of autonomy but will need to know when to seek advice, ensure alignment, and escalate as required
- Problem solving capability will be required to support and advise business colleagues through new commercial initiatives in pursuit of the business commercial strategy
