Technical Support & Commercial Sales Development Manager

Zap Vehicle Charging Ltd – Stockport

£30,000 Basic | Genuine OTE £60,000+ | Uncapped Commission | Company Vehicle | Monday–Friday

Hours: 9:00am–4:00pm, Monday–Friday (35 hours)
Location: Hazel Grove, Stockport, with occasional UK site visits
Employment: Full-Time, Permanent
Holiday: 28 days including public holidays

The Opportunity

Following continued growth within the Electric Vehicle Charging sector, Zap Vehicle Charging Ltd is looking for an ambitious, commercially driven, and technically capable individual to join our expanding team.

This is a varied position combining commercial sales, self-generated business development, technical support, customer onboarding, digital marketing, and database management.

Importantly, this is not simply a technical support role or an order-taking sales position. We want someone who will actively identify, approach, and win new commercial EV charging customers.

The potential market is enormous. Almost any UK business or organisation with a car park or off-street parking is a potential prospect for EV charging. This includes offices, factories, warehouses, schools, colleges, hotels, retail premises, dealerships, gyms, leisure centres, healthcare facilities, property companies, fleet operators, and many more.

If you can identify a business with a car park, you have identified a potential conversation.

Salary & Earning Potential

£30,000 Basic Salary + Genuine OTE £60,000+

Your basic salary will be £30,000 per annum, paid monthly.

In addition, the position offers a substantial performance-related package designed to reward both sales success and technical performance.

Commercial Sales Bonus

Achieve a minimum of £20,000 qualifying net profit per month from commercial and school project sales and receive a:

  • £1,000 monthly bonus

Uncapped Sales Commission

Once you exceed the £20,000 monthly net-profit target, you will additionally receive:

  • 10% commission on qualifying net profit generated above £20,000

For example, £30,000 qualifying monthly net profit would generate:

  • £1,000 target bonus
  • £1,000 commission on the £10,000 above target
  • £2,000 additional earnings for that month, on top of your basic salary

Commission is normally paid following completion of the qualifying installation.

Based on the overall reward structure, genuine OTE is approximately £60,000+ per annum, with the opportunity for strong performers to earn more.

Technical Support Reward

You can also receive:

  • £100 for every qualifying school you personally set up and bring fully operational on the TAP management system.

Expected volumes are approximately 10–15 schools per month, potentially providing an additional £1,000–£1,500 per month when those volumes are achieved.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Responsibilities

Self-Generated Commercial Sales

A major part of this position is generating your own commercial opportunities.

ZAP will provide company-generated leads and opportunities, but we also expect you to actively build your own pipeline rather than relying solely on incoming enquiries.

Responsibilities include:

  • Identifying UK businesses with suitable parking
  • Building your own prospect pipeline
  • Telephone and email prospecting
  • Identifying and contacting business decision-makers
  • Using online research and social media to find opportunities
  • Conducting targeted email campaigns and mailshots
  • Following up previous enquiries and dormant prospects
  • Developing referrals and repeat business
  • Booking surveys and appointments
  • Progressing opportunities through quotation and installation
  • Maintaining accurate CRM records
  • Consistently working towards monthly sales and profitability targets

OZEV Grants – Helping Customers Reduce Installation Costs

An important part of the commercial proposition is helping eligible customers understand the OZEV grants and funding schemes that may contribute towards their EV charging installation costs.

You will be trained to identify potential eligibility and explain how available funding may help reduce the customer's investment.

Full training will be provided on relevant OZEV schemes, EV charging products, eligibility requirements, and processes.

You don't need to arrive as an EV charging expert. We can teach you the industry. We need you to bring the drive and confidence to create opportunities.

Technical Support & Customer Onboarding

Alongside sales, you will provide technical support to domestic, commercial, and educational customers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Connecting EV chargers to online back-office systems
  • Setting up customers on the TAP management platform
  • Creating tariffs and user groups
  • Assisting customers with EV charging apps
  • Setting up payment facilities where applicable
  • Providing remote first-line technical support
  • Troubleshooting basic Wi-Fi, network, and connectivity issues
  • Supporting engineers during commissioning
  • Liaising with manufacturers and software providers
  • Ensuring customers receive a smooth handover
  • Occasionally attending sites where remote support is insufficient

Full technical and product training will be provided.

Digital Marketing & Database Management

You will also support our Sales and Administration teams by:

  • Keeping customer and prospect databases accurate and up to date
  • Researching and adding appropriate commercial prospects
  • Segmenting databases for targeted campaigns
  • Conducting company mailshots
  • Supporting email and social media campaigns
  • Providing first-response communication to new enquiries
  • Ensuring leads are recorded and followed up
  • Identifying additional opportunities within existing customer data

Working Hours

Monday–Friday, 9:00am–4:00pm – 35 hours per week.

Alternative hours, such as 8:00am–3:00pm, may be considered by mutual agreement.

Company Vehicle

The role may occasionally require travel to commercial customers, schools, and installation sites.

A company vehicle, fully insured for authorised business use, can be provided where required.

Alternatively, where agreed, authorised business mileage in a personal vehicle can be reimbursed in accordance with company policy.

We Want an Opportunity Creator

We aren't looking for somebody who simply waits for the telephone to ring.

We want someone who can drive through a business park and see potential customers; identify a hotel, office, factory, or school with a car park and see an opportunity; start the conversation, understand the customer's requirements, explain the potential funding available, and turn that opportunity into an installation.

Find the opportunity. Start the conversation. Build the relationship. Win the business.
