We're delighted to be supporting our client, a global specialist project logistics firm, with their search for a Commercial Sales Manager.

The Commercial Sales Manager will accelerate new business growth by expanding industry verticals beyond established core markets. This position will play a critical role in diversifying the customer base by identifying and developing opportunities across new markets such as manufacturing, construction, chemicals, and industrial sectors.

The successful candidate will be responsible for winning new business, increasing market share, and further positioning the business as a leading transport logistics provider across multiple industries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • New Business Development
    • Identify, target, and secure new customers across non energy sectors
    • Develop and execute a structured plan to penetrate new industry verticals
    • Build a robust and sustainable new business pipeline

  • Market Expansion

    • Proactively expand market share within sectors such as: Manufacturing & materials, Construction & infrastructure, Chemicals & industrial goods, Automotive and engineering
  • Sales & Commercial Strategy

    • Develop tailored logistics solutions focused on road transport (FTL, LTL, specialist haulage)
    • Prepare competitive pricing proposals and negotiate commercial agreements
    • Monitor market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity
  • Customer Engagement

    • Build relationships with key decision makers i.e. procurement, supply chain, logistics managers
    • Understand client supply chain needs and align transport solutions accordingly
    • Ensure a strong value proposition tailored to each sector
  • Internal Collaboration

    • Work closely with operations, planning, and customer service teams to deliver solutions
    • Ensure smooth onboarding of new customers and successful service delivery

Key Focus Areas - Road transport logistics (domestic and cross border) Full Truck Load (FTL) and Less-than Truck Load (LTL) solutions Specialist transport including:

  • Project cargo
  • Hazardous goods (ADR-compliant)
  • Time critical shipments

Experience & Skills:

  • 5+ years’ experience in road transport, shipping, or logistics sales
  • Proven track record in winning new business and growing market share
  • Experience working with industrial sectors (non-energy preferred)
  • Strong understanding of road freight operations
  • Commercially driven with strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Ability to open new markets and develop vertical specific strategies
