One of our National Procurement clients are looking for a Commercial Sales Manager to join their expanding team.

Overall Purpose of the Role

The Commercial Sales Manager is a key role within the Commercial Sales Team, responsible for delivering measurable commercial value across our client portfolio.

Operating at the intersection of procurement, sales, and client strategy, this role combines strategic sourcing, supplier negotiation, and client engagement to unlock value across Food, Retail, and SES categories. You will lead high-value commercial initiatives, drive supplier partnerships, and activate programmes that enhance both client outcomes and our profitability. With over £1bn+ of managed spend across the company and ambitious growth plans, this role offers significant scope to influence commercial strategy, shape supplier ecosystems, and deliver impactful results.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Strategy & Delivery

  • Operate as a core member of the Commercial Sales Team, owning and delivering commercial targets across the client base.
  • Lead end-to-end strategic sourcing and tendering activity, from insight generation and category strategy through to supplier selection, negotiation, and contract implementation.
  • Drive innovative commercial approaches that maximise value for both clients and us.

Client Value & Engagement

  • Deliver structured, insight-led client reviews that clearly demonstrate commercial value and identify growth opportunities.
  • Design and execute client-specific commercial strategies aligned to procurement goals and wider business objectives.
  • Act as a trusted commercial partner, influencing client decision-making and supporting long-term retention and growth.

Supplier & Commercial Programme Activation

  • Develop and execute supplier and manufacturer joint business plans aligned to Commercial Sales targets.
  • Maximise supplier income through activation of commercial frameworks, promotions, and switch initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to optimise and evolve the supplier base to enhance value delivery.

Sales Enablement & Growth

  • Partner closely with Sales & Retention teams to drive growth within existing accounts and support new business wins.
  • Support the Commercial Sales agenda by translating procurement activity into tangible sales opportunities and client benefits.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with Marketing to develop impactful client-facing materials, campaigns, and communications.
  • Align with Procurement, Finance, Culinary, and Operations teams to ensure delivery of integrated commercial strategies.

Performance & Insight

  • Use data and analytics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities across clients and categories.
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights and commercially compelling narratives.
  • Track, manage, and report on commercial performance against targets.

Candidate Profile

Core Skills & Experience

  • Strong commercial acumen with a proven track record of delivering against sales and profitability targets.
  • Extensive experience within commercial sales, procurement, or strategic sourcing environments.
  • Expert negotiator with experience managing complex supplier relationships and tenders.
  • Advanced analytical capability, with the ability to turn data into strategic insight.
  • Experience across Food, Retail, and/or SES categories, including wholesalers and distributors.

Key Requirements for the role:

Role Requirements

  • Experience in a wide range of different categories and suppliers across Food, Retail and SES as well as with Wholesalers and Distributors
  • UK travel required to engage with clients and stakeholders
  • 2 days per week in Chertsey or London office
