Commercial Shark 6-Month Fixed Term Contract
Start Date - 1st September
About the Opportunity
We are looking for a curious, ambitious and commercially minded Commercial Shark to join our fast-growing, consumer-obsessed business for six months.
This is not an internship where you will spend six months watching from the sidelines. Working alongside our Sales team and reporting into an experienced commercial team member, you will get hands-on exposure to how we work with some of the UK's biggest retail partners, launch exciting products, analyse performance and ultimately drive profitable growth.
We aren't looking for someone who already knows how to do the job. We're looking for someone with the mindset and potential to learn it.
You might be a student, recent graduate or someone taking their first step into the commercial world. What matters most is that you're curious, comfortable getting stuck in, excited by a challenge and keen to understand what makes consumers, retailers and businesses tick.
Here are some of the EXCITING things you'll do:
Get hands-on with our retail customers
- Support the day-to-day management of retail accounts, working closely with the wider Sales team.
- Help prepare for customer meetings, range reviews and internal commercial discussions.
- Support the team with customer presentations, proposals and follow-up actions.
- Gain exposure to how we build strong, mutually beneficial relationships with our retail partners.
- Where appropriate, join customer meetings and see commercial conversations happening first-hand.
Learn how we drive sales
- Help track sales performance across customers and product categories.
- Support the planning and execution of activity across online and in-store channels.
- Get involved in product launches, promotions and key trading moments.
- Help monitor pricing, competitor activity and what's happening in the wider market.
- Spend time understanding what is driving performance – and, importantly, asking why.
Turn data into insight
- Work with sales and market data to spot trends, opportunities and areas requiring attention.
- Help maintain customer trackers, reports and forecasts.
- Build your confidence using tools such as Excel and PowerPoint.
- Learn how commercial teams turn numbers into recommendations and actions.
- Take increasingly complex analysis from question through to recommendation as your confidence grows.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Work across the business
- Collaborate with colleagues across Sales, Trade Marketing, SS&A, Marketing, Finance, Operations and other teams.
- Learn how different commercial functions come together to take a product from launch plan to retailer to consumer.
- Build relationships across the organisation and gain exposure to different commercial career paths.
Your Own Commercial Challenge
Alongside supporting the team's day-to-day priorities, we want you to own something of your own.
During your six months, you'll be given a real commercial challenge or project to investigate. You might analyse an opportunity within a retailer, investigate product or promotional performance, identify a market trend, improve a commercial process or explore a new growth opportunity.
With support from the team, you'll:
- Understand the problem → Analyse the data → Develop your point of view → Recommend what we should do
At the end of your internship, you'll have the opportunity to present your findings and recommendations back to the business.
The goal is simple: leave having made a real contribution.
What we're looking for
Mindset over experience
You do not need previous Sales or commercial experience to apply. We're much more interested in how you think, how you approach problems and how willing you are to learn.
You'll thrive here if you:
- Are curious – you ask questions, want to understand why and aren't afraid to challenge your own thinking.
- Take ownership – when you see something that needs doing, your instinct is to get involved.
- Learn quickly – you're comfortable not knowing the answer and motivated to figure it out.
- Are commercially curious – you're interested in products, consumers, retailers and why some things sell better than others.
- Enjoy solving problems – numbers and information don't intimidate you; you like finding the story behind them.
- Communicate confidently – you can share your thinking clearly and are willing to contribute your point of view.
- Are collaborative – you enjoy working with different people and understand that great results rarely happen alone.
- Are comfortable with pace – priorities can change quickly and you're willing to adapt and get stuck in.
- Pay attention to the details – you care about getting things right.
- Bring energy – you want to contribute, learn and make the most of the opportunity.

What you DON'T need
We mean it when we say this is entry level. You don't need:
- Previous account management experience.
- Previous Sales experience.
- Expert Excel or analytical skills.
- Experience negotiating with retailers.
- To already understand forecasting, promotions or commercial planning.
- To know exactly what you want your career to look like.
We'll help you learn those things. What we can't teach as easily is curiosity, ambition, ownership and the desire to keep getting better.
What you'll get from the six months
By the end of the 6 months, you should have developed a practical understanding of:
- How a commercial organisation makes money.
- How brands and retailers work together.
- How customer accounts are managed.
- How products and promotions are brought to life in retail.
- How sales performance is analysed and forecast.
- How data can influence commercial decisions.
- How different functions collaborate to drive profitable growth.
- How to communicate recommendations and influence others.
More importantly, you'll have done these things, rather than simply learned about them. You'll leave with real commercial experience, a network across the business and a much clearer understanding of where a career in Commercial could take you.
Bring Your Curiosity. We'll Build the Experience.
We're looking for potential, not a finished product. If you're excited by business, consumers and brands; love learning; aren't afraid to ask questions; and want six months where you'll be challenged to make a genuine contribution, we'd love to hear from you.
