Commercial Solar Estimator

About Oakhurst Energy

Oakhurst Energy is a fast-growing renewable energy contractor specialising in commercial rooftop solar PV, solar car park canopies, battery energy storage systems (BESS) and EV charging infrastructure. Working with NHS Trusts, local authorities, universities and major commercial organisations, we deliver turnkey renewable energy projects that help clients reduce energy costs, improve sustainability and achieve their net zero ambitions.

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Commercial Solar Estimator to join our expanding pre-construction team.

The Role

Working alongside our renewables team, you will prepare cost estimates, undertake feasibility assessments, develop financial models and produce high-quality commercial proposals for a wide range of commercial renewable energy projects.

This role is ideal for someone with strong commercial and analytical skills who enjoys combining estimating with financial modelling to help shape investment decisions for clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost estimates for commercial rooftop solar PV, solar car park canopies, BESS and EV charging projects.
  • Review drawings, specifications, surveys and tender documentation.
  • Obtain supplier and subcontractor quotations.
  • Prepare bills of quantities (BoQs), quotations and tender submissions.
  • Develop financial models and client business cases, including ROI, payback periods, cash flow forecasts, lifetime savings and investment appraisals.
  • Analyse client electricity consumption data, half-hourly meter data and electricity tariffs to assess project viability and optimise system sizing.
  • Work closely with the sales and design teams to ensure projects are both technically and commercially viable.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities to improve project performance and cost efficiency.
  • Maintain estimating databases, pricing schedules and financial modelling templates.
  • Support the continuous improvement of estimating and pre-construction processes.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
