Senior Commercial Solicitor
A real opportunity to help shape a growing firm.
If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.
At Jamieson Law, we advise ambitious businesses through every stage of their journey. Whether they're negotiating key commercial contracts, taking on new premises, buying or selling a business, bringing in investors or preparing for growth, we're the legal team they trust to help them move forward with confidence.
We're a modern, entrepreneurial law firm that combines high-quality legal advice with commercial thinking, responsiveness and great client relationships. We believe in clear advice, finding better ways to work and building a business that is a great place for both our clients and our team.
As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced Senior Commercial Solicitor to join our commercial team. Alongside strong commercial contracts experience, you'll need meaningful, hands-on experience of commercial lease matters in England, with the confidence to manage those matters independently.
Why Jamieson Law?
We're building something different.
We've grown quickly, and we're now strengthening our team and developing the support we offer our business clients. This is an opportunity to play an important role in that next stage.
You'll have responsibility for your own matters and client relationships, alongside the support of colleagues who share your commitment to doing good work.
That means you'll:
- Take ownership of a varied commercial caseload
- Build lasting relationships with business clients and understand how their businesses work
- Work closely with our commercial team, founders and wider legal team
- Be trusted to exercise your judgement and give practical, commercially focused advice
- Have the autonomy to manage your work without unnecessary layers of management
- Contribute ideas about how we deliver our services and develop the practice
- Be part of a supportive team where people share knowledge and help each other succeed
- Have opportunities to broaden your responsibilities as the firm continues to grow
We're fully remote, highly collaborative and embrace technology to help us deliver an exceptional experience for both our clients and our team.
The Role
You'll sit within our commercial team, with commercial contracts forming the main part of your caseload.
You'll also take ownership of English commercial lease matters as they arise, providing continuity for clients who need support with both their business agreements and their premises.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The mix of work will vary with client demand. We need someone who enjoys commercial contracts work and brings enough practical leasing experience to progress lease matters confidently from initial instructions through to completion.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements, including terms and conditions, services agreements, supply agreements, consultancy agreements and confidentiality agreements
- Advising on contractual risks, obligations, liability, termination provisions and practical options for negotiation
- Getting to know our clients' businesses so your advice reflects their commercial priorities
- Managing English commercial lease matters, including reviewing and negotiating leases and associated documentation
- Advising on agreements for lease, renewals, assignments, underleases, variations and licences, as relevant to the matter
- Advising on key lease provisions, including breaks, repair obligations, rent reviews, security of tenure and exit arrangements
- Handling the due diligence, completion and registration requirements associated with lease matters
- Supporting our corporate team with commercial contract and lease aspects of business acquisitions and disposals
- Managing scope, fees, deadlines and client expectations throughout each matter
- Building strong client relationships and explaining legal issues clearly, with practical recommendations
- Sharing knowledge and helping develop our precedents and ways of working
- Contributing to business development through client relationships, referrals and opportunities to provide wider support
Awareness of trade marks and wider intellectual property issues would be helpful, particularly when reviewing commercial agreements or identifying when a client may need specialist advice. It isn't essential.
