Location: Griffin Park, Cumbria (hybrid working)
Salary: Up to £48,372 per annum + generous benefits package
Hours: 37.5 per week
Contract: Permanent
The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) is an armed police service that’s dedicated to the nuclear industry. Role Overview
The Commercial Specialist makes professional recommendations that will be relied on by the organisation, to make important strategic and contractual decisions affecting projects with lifetime budgets exceeding £1m.
Responsibilities
- Establish, implement, and enforce strategic procurement policies.
- Ensure the organisation’s compliance with legal obligations.
- Identify, scope, evaluate, award, and implement a broad range of procurements and contracts.
- Mentor and support other professional procurement staff in development roles.
- Work toward the continuous improvement of the Constabulary’s commercial terms and conditions, policies, and service level agreements.
Skills and Experience Required
- Professional Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) Professional Qualification.
- Public Sector Experience: Extensive experience in managing procurement activities and contracts within the public sector.
- Experience in procurement of goods, services, and works across various categories.
- Contract Lifecycle Management: Experience in handling all phases of the contract lifecycle.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Experience in ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations and managing associated risks.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Demonstrated ability to work with various stakeholders to meet Commercial objectives.
- Dispute Resolution: Experience in managing and resolving contract disputes effectively.
- Analytical Skills: Proficient in analysing contract terms, financial data, and performance metrics.
- Legal Knowledge: Understanding of contract law and public procurement regulations.
- Financial Acumen: Ability to understand financial aspects of contracts, including budgeting, cost control, savings, and efficiencies.
- Responsive to Changing Priorities: Ability to handle competing demands and meet deadlines.

Hybrid Working
This role has been assessed as suitable for hybrid working with a 60% Home / 40% Office split, which will be discussed and agreed with the selected candidate.

- 27.5 days annual leave (rising by 1 day after 2 years’ service, and 0.5 days every year thereafter until a total of 32.5 days is reached) plus Bank Holidays
- Additional 30 minutes time worked during the week to accrue additional leave of 3 days, which can be used for the period between Christmas and New Year
- Generous pension scheme (20.7% employer's contribution). The employer contribution for this grade is a minimum of £8,649 per year, and employee contribution (8.2%) of at least £3,426 - providing you with a total minimum annual pension contribution of up to £12,075.37
