Commercial Strategy & Analytics Associate
Department: Commercial Employment Type: Permanent Location: London Reports To: Eoin O'Kane
Description
We’re looking for a Commercial Strategy & Analytics Associate to help YouLend find, test and scale high-impact growth opportunities across our embedded finance platform.
You’ll work closely with our Product, Risk, Pricing, Data and partner-facing teams. Your role will be to turn ambiguous commercial questions into robust analysis, experiments, tools and recommendations that help us grow funded volume, improve conversion, reduce friction and make better decisions.
This is a hands-on analytical role. You’ll need strong SQL, Excel/Sheets and Python (or a similar coding ability). You should be comfortable digging into messy data, understanding product flows, reading technical documentation, and working with technical teams to uncover how things actually work.
While you’re not a software engineer, you’ll need to be curious and technical enough to follow the thread: from a dashboard, into the data, into the product or decisioning logic, and back to a clear commercial recommendation.
You’ll also know when to step back and find the right person (within YouLend or a partner) to help unblock issues.
The ideal candidate will be:
- Analytical, practical and commercially curious
- Excited by experimentation and experimentation
- ** Pragmatic**, comfortable using AI tools like Codex, Replit or notebooks, comfortable with lightweight scripting to validate ideas quickly and create evidence for longer-term solutions
Key Responsibilities
As a Commercial Strategy & Analytics Associate, you will:
- Own commercial experiments end-to-end: Define the hypothesis, design tests, agree success metrics, monitor results and recommend next actions.
- Analyse growth opportunities across offers, pricing, eligibility, renewals, customer journeys, and partner performance.
- Use SQL, Excel/Sheets and Python to dig deeper into dashboards and understand what truly drives performance.
- Improve data foundations behind commercial experimentation—including funnel tracking, event definitions, metric quality, and test measurement.
- Collaborate with Product, Risk, Pricing and Data teams to convert commercial ideas into tests, product changes, decisioning logic, or operational improvements.
- Build models to assess trade-offs between metrics like conversion, funded amount, risk, pricing, margin, and customer experience.
- Enhance key funnel tracking (understanding customer actions) and assess whether changes effectively improve outcomes.
- Execute targeting, offer, decisioning or conversion optimizations using partner and first-party data.
- Develop lightweight proof-of-concepts—dashboards, scripts, and AI-powered tools—that accelerate decision-making.
- Translate technical findings into clear recommendations for action that Commercial, Product, Risk, and stakeholders can act on.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Example Queries You Might Address:
- How should we set early renewal eligibility to maximise incremental funding without an unacceptable risk?
- Which offer should we show merchants before they apply, and how will it affect application rate, conversion, and funded amount?
- How should we design an A/B test to understand both pricing, eligibility or journey change impact?
- Which customer segments should receive tailored offer structures based on conversion, returns, profitability?
- Where do instant or automated offers underperform manual reviews, and what fixes improve the gap?
- How could partner data drive better targeting, pricing, decisioning or conversion?
- What dashboard, model, or AI prototype can help Commercial teams answer common questions faster?
After 6-9 months, you’ll take greater ownership:
- Identifying growth opportunities
- Getting into the data
- Designing decisive tests/analysis
- Aligning cross-functional teams
- Driving solutions into production
Impact: You’ll shape critical decisions around offers, pricing, eligibility, renewals, customer journeys, and partner performance—through experiments, prototypes, reports, and recommendation actions.
Known across Commercial, Product, Risk, Pricing, and Data as a bridge-builder: technically strong enough to explain how systems work, commercially fluent to spot what truly drives value, and action-oriented to get things moving.
