About Severn Trent

To support this, we are seeking an Commercial Strategy Manager to drive the commercial delivery of strategic infrastructure solutions in our SRO team. This high-profile role requires working closely with our regulators and integrating Direct Procurement for Customers (DPC) projects. This includes ensuring cost-efficient and innovative outcomes for Severn Trent customers and customers of our partner water companies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead commercial management across SRO projects from their conception, through to commissioning.
  • Structure and deliver projects under the DPC framework in line with regulatory guidance.
  • Define and execute sourcing and contract strategies that drive best value and compliance across the SRO portfolio.
  • Lead market engagement with potential financiers, suppliers and partners.
  • Act as a commercial interface with regulators and stakeholders.
  • Support business case development for project and the Regulators’ Alliance for Progressing Infrastructure Development (RAPID) milestones.
  • Oversee effective contract management including change control, governance, and risk mitigation.
  • Lead, inspire and develop a high-performing commercial team.
  • Champion innovation and continuous improvement while developing SRO capability across the wider business.

What We’re Looking For

  • Influencing & Negotiation: Ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships and secure buy-in at senior levels.
  • Communication: Clear and confident communicator, able to present commercial cases to regulators and internal leadership.
  • Leadership: Inspires and motivates teams, fostering collaboration and accountability.
  • Problem-Solving: Analytical thinker who can navigate ambiguity and develop innovative solutions.
  • Resilience: Comfortable working under pressure with competing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Adaptability: Ability to respond to regulatory changes and evolving commercial frameworks.
  • Collaboration: Builds strong partnerships internally and externally to achieve shared goals.

Qualifications Required

  • Degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., Commercial Management, Quantity Surveying, Law, Business, Engineering).
  • Professional accreditation such as MICE, MRICS, MCIPS, or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with NEC contract suite and procurement law.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required.
