Role Overview

The Commercial & Trading Analyst supports the Purchasing, Customer Care, Accounts & Marketing teams in driving sales growth, margin improvement, and commercial performance across Vet Direct's e-commerce portfolio of veterinary equipment, consumables, instruments, and clothing. This is an integral role that analyses sales, margin, and profitability trends to identify opportunities for growth and cost improvement with a view to giving Vet Direct a competitive edge.

Key Responsibilities

Setting Direction

  • Analyse sales, margin, profitability, and revenue performance to provide commercial insights.
  • Produce regular reports and conduct pricing, competitor, and supplier performance analysis.
  • Support product launches, category reviews, forecasting, and budgeting activities.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, suppliers, and colleagues.
  • Champion CVS values, maintain a customer-focused approach, and ensure deadlines are consistently met.

Key Skills Required

  • Excellent analytical, oral, and written communication skills with the ability to organise and use Microsoft Office tools.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Effective negotiation skills with a willingness to drive down costs and improve efficiencies.
  • Strong commercial acumen.
  • Experience in commercial and category analysis.
  • Sound business knowledge.
  • Accuracy and an eye for detail.
  • Good organisation and time management skills.
  • A team player with a high level of dedication to fulfil obligations.
