Commercial Underwriter - P&C
Location: Maidstone, 3 days per week in the office
Salary: Competitive depending on experience
IPS Group are working with a leading insurer with a strong presence in the commercial insurance market, to find a Commercial Underwriter to join their growing team in Maidstone.
The Role
As a Commercial Underwriter, you will be responsible for underwriting commercial risks within your delegated authority, ensuring business is written profitably and in line with underwriting strategy. You will also be underwriting mid-market commercial risks, developing broker relationships, and driving profitable growth across the portfolio.

- Managing large or complex cases while providing exceptional service to intermediary partners.
- Acting as a key point of contact for brokers, enhancing confidence in the organisation's underwriting capabilities.
- Attending broker and customer meetings to support new business development and strengthen existing relationships.
- Monitoring account and portfolio performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing appropriate actions.
- Supporting loss ratio management through effective underwriting controls and portfolio oversight.
- Investigating under performing accounts and retention challenges, working closely with senior underwriting colleagues to improve outcomes.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders to deliver outstanding underwriting service and technical expertise.

About You
To be considered for this opportunity, you will ideally have:
- Strong experience within Commercial Property & Casualty underwriting with current market knowledge
- Strong trading and relationship management skills with a proven ability to develop broker partnerships.
- Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- Experience monitoring portfolio performance and implementing action plans to improve results.
- Strong technical underwriting knowledge within a commercial or composite insurance environment.
