Job Opportunity: Commercial Vehicle Technician
We're looking for experienced Commercial Vehicle Technicians to join our engineering team at our Reading depot, keeping our fleet safe, reliable, and on the road. You'll be joining an award-winning department that is a founder member of the DVSA's Earned Recognition scheme and have the potential to earn new qualifications and further your career.
Basic Salary
- Day shift: A GBP 44,000
- Late Shift: A GBP 65,500

Job Description
Commercial Vehicle Technician: Buses, Automotive
Your primary responsibility as our Commercial Vehicle Technician will be to keep our fleet of buses safe and on the road, inspecting, repairing, and maintaining our buses to a high standard.

In addition to this you will:
- Investigate and diagnose mechanical and electronic faults
- Carry out preventative maintenance and repairs as required
- Record faults and the work performed to fix them
- Follow all safety instructions and procedures
- Report any issues promptly and accurately
- Contribute to a safe, compliant, and efficient workshop environment
- Ensure all work is completed to the required engineering and safety standards
Shift Patterns
- Day Shift: Monday - Friday, alternating two-week shift pattern of 8am - 4pm and 6am - 2pm
- Late Shift: 4 on / 4 off, 3pm - 2am
Person Specification
Commercial Vehicle Technician: Buses, Automotive
Ideally, you will possess at least an NVQ Level 2 qualification in the maintenance and repair of public service vehicles or heavy goods vehicles, or an equivalent international qualification.
In addition to this you will:
- Have a proven track record in repairing and maintaining public service or heavy goods vehicles
- Have a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical vehicle systems
- Be confident diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs
- Have a strong commitment to safety and high standards of workmanship

If you don't have an NVQ qualification, you'll need to pass the IRTEC Service Maintenance Technician exam during your six-month probation period.
