Part-Time Commis Chef
We are looking for an authentic, passionate and driven Part-Time Commis Chef to join our Kitchen team at Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel & Spa.
As Glasgow’s only 5-star City Centre Hotel, Kimpton Blythswood Square is all about combining luxury with personality. From our Spa to sustainably sourced Scottish seafood in Iasg, our teams work together to deliver exceptional experiences without ever losing the warmth, individuality and character that makes Kimpton different.
As a Commis Chef, you’ll be 100% you, bringing your authentic personality to everything you do; be the ultimate host, confidently leading yourself and making creative decisions that elevate every interaction; and spark joy, using every tool available to craft meaningful and memorable experiences.
We can offer either a 16-hour contract over 2 days per week or a 24-hour contract over 3 days per week – giving you the flexibility to find a working pattern that suits you.
Hospitality is all about being there when our guests need us, and no two days are quite the same! Our shifts are worked across a 7-day operation, so we’re looking for someone who’s flexible, enjoys a varied working week and is ready to bring their energy and enthusiasm to the team, whatever the day.
At Kimpton, we believe great hospitality starts with great people. We want you to bring your whole self to work, be part of a team that genuinely cares about what they do and help us create memorable experiences and heartfelt human connections for every guest.
What you’ll be doing
As a Commis Chef, you’ll be an important part of our Kitchen brigade, supporting our Chef de Parties and wider team to deliver consistently high-quality food across the hotel.
You’ll get involved in preparing ingredients and dishes for service, maintaining excellent kitchen and food safety standards, and learning from an experienced team who will support you to develop your skills and grow your career.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
