The Role Outline: Your Shift at a Glance

As our Commiss Chef, you are the absolute foundation of the kitchen. This is a hands-on learning role where you will do the heavy lifting of prep work, support the senior chefs during service, and absorb everything you need to know to climb the ranks. You will keep your section spotless and ensure every ingredient is ready before the tickets start printing.

Why Village?

At Village, we do hospitality a little differently. We are all about personality, genuine connections, and creating great experiences for our guests and each other. That is why we back our teams to be themselves, take ownership, learn new skills, and grow their careers. Previous experience is great, but your attitude and energy matter much more to us. If you are friendly, positive, love working with people, and enjoy being part of a busy team, we will give you all the support, training, and opportunities you need. Because it really does take a Village.

How The Village Thrives

We live our culture through four simple commitments:

  • We Can & We Do: We show up to make a genuine difference and do fantastic work every day, with purpose.
  • We Will: Treat each other with respect and dignity. No ego, no drama. We try our best and look out for each other.
  • We Care: We care about our impact on guests, the community, and each other.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Your Shift: What You’ll Actually Be Doing

As our Commiss Chef, you are the engine of the shift. We trust you to handle:

  • The Prep & Execution: Assisting the Chef de Partie and senior chefs by doing the vital preparation work. You will deliver a smooth flow of work, control portion sizes, and ensure your section is completely set up for service.
  • The Standards: Driving an obsession with food safety. You will check deliveries, record temperatures, and maintain operations to the absolute highest standards of hygiene in strict accordance with FRESH, HACCP, and EHO directives.
  • The Learning Curve: Acting as a sponge. You will taste the menus, absorb product knowledge, and bring a genuine passion for food that drives your own internal development and supports the wider brigade.
