Role Description

The Commis Chef is a full-time, on-site role based at Brasserie Beau in Bath. The role involves supporting the kitchen team with daily food preparation, maintaining mise en place, and assisting with cooking during service. Responsibilities include:

  • Following recipes and instructions from senior chefs
  • Ensuring high standards of presentation
  • Contributing to the consistent delivery of British classics on the menu

The Commis Chef is expected to:

  • Maintain strict hygiene standards
  • Support stock rotation
  • Help with cleaning and organization of kitchen workstations and equipment

This role also involves:

  • Working collaboratively with the wider team
  • Communicating effectively during service
  • Being willing to learn and develop culinary skills

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong Food Preparation and Cooking abilities, with a foundation in essential Culinary Skills.
  • Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of Hygiene standards and safe food handling practices.
  • Candidates should have effective Communication skills for working within a busy, team-oriented kitchen environment.
  • Prior experience in a professional kitchen or culinary training is beneficial.
  • A positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn and follow guidance from senior chefs are important.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
