Salary: Up to £29,000 per annum

Location: RAF Museum London

Contract Type: Full-time, permanent, site based, 5 over 7 days per week

As a Commiss Chef at the RAF Museum London, you will be part of a unique and inspiring visitor attraction, serving guests in one of the UK's most celebrated aviation heritage destinations. From daily visitor dining to corporate functions, private events, and special occasions held among the museum's iconic aircraft collection, you'll gain experience across a diverse range of catering and hospitality services.

In this role, you will support the kitchen team with all aspects of food preparation, organisation, and daily operations. You will help maintain a clean and efficient kitchen environment, follow recipes and production standards, and ensure full compliance with Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS) and Health & Safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare ingredients and dishes to the required quality, presentation, and food safety standards.
  • Ensure all food is fresh, handled correctly, and stored in line with company procedures.
  • Follow recipes, portion controls, and production guidelines to minimise waste and maximise consistency.
  • Maintain accurate stock rotation and ensure ingredients are stored safely and appropriately.
  • Adhere to all allergen management, hygiene, Food Safety Management System (FSMS), and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Carry out routine food safety and quality checks, following training and procedures.
  • Keep workstations, equipment, and kitchen areas clean, organised, and safe at all times.
  • Use kitchen equipment safely and correctly, wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) where required.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver an excellent experience for guests and visitors.
  • Embrace learning opportunities and respond positively to coaching, feedback, and development support.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience in a kitchen environment, ideally gained in a Kitchen Porter, Catering Assistant or similar role.
  • A genuine passion for food and a strong desire to develop culinary skills and knowledge.
  • Basic food preparation and knife-handling skills.
  • A culinary qualification or relevant catering certification is desirable but not essential.
  • A positive, can-do attitude with a willingness to learn and grow.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality, cleanliness, and safety.
