About the Role

As a Commis Chef, you'll play an important role in supporting the daily operation of our kitchen. Working alongside our senior chefs, you'll prepare fresh ingredients, assist during service and help ensure every dish leaving the kitchen reflects the quality and consistency that define the tashas experience.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about food, eager to learn and enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

What You'll Be Doing

Food Preparation & Production

  • Prepare ingredients and menu items according to established recipes and brand standards.
  • Assist with daily mise en place and ensure your workstation is organised and service-ready.
  • Support food preparation across different kitchen sections as required.
  • Follow cooking techniques, recipes and portion standards with consistency and care.
  • Taste and quality-check food before service to ensure exceptional standards.
  • Help deliver beautifully presented dishes during busy service periods.

Kitchen Operations

  • Ensure ingredients are fresh, properly stored and used within their shelf life.
  • Follow opening and closing procedures in line with operational standards.
  • Maintain kitchen equipment and report any maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Complete preparation schedules and support smooth day-to-day kitchen operations.
  • Work efficiently with the wider kitchen team to ensure seamless service.

Quality & Brand Standards

  • Maintain high standards of food quality, consistency and presentation.
  • Take pride in preparing dishes that reflect the tashas commitment to beautiful food.
  • Follow recipes, cooking methods and portion guidelines accurately.
  • Contribute to a culture of excellence through attention to detail and professionalism.

Teamwork & Development

  • Learn from experienced chefs and embrace opportunities to grow your culinary skills.
  • Support new team members and contribute to a positive, collaborative kitchen environment.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all food safety, hygiene and HACCP procedures.
  • Maintain clean, organised and sanitised workstations throughout every shift.
  • Handle food products safely and responsibly.
  • Report equipment faults or safety concerns promptly.
  • Help maintain a safe and professional working environment.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous kitchen experience is beneficial but not essential.
  • A genuine passion for food and hospitality.
  • A willingness to learn and develop within a professional kitchen.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • The ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • A positive attitude and strong team spirit.
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices is advantageous.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.
