Location: Richmond Village, Aston on Trent, Derby, DE72 2EA Salary: From £12.60 per hour Plus: £1,000 welcome bonus Contract: Full Time Shifts: Predominantly 9-5pm with the occasional late night for events & alternate weekends

We make health happen. Richmond Village in Aston on Trent is looking to appoint a new Cook to join their team. The role of Cook in this luxury retirement village is a unique blend of culinary skill and lifestyle balance. With no late nights or split shifts, you will enjoy a harmonious work-life rhythm while showcasing your talents across a variety of dining settings, from the intimate care home to the bustling restaurant and club house. This position offers a chance to make a meaningful impact on residents' lives through the universal language of delicious food, all within the comfort of a refined and serene environment.

Passionate about food, you bring experience working in a variety of high-volume, multi-service, and quality kitchens. With expertise in diverse cuisines and cooking techniques, you possess a comprehensive understanding of the catering and hospitality industry, including Care Homes, hotels, conference centres, high-quality pubs, and restaurants, as well as outside catering. Working in such a refined and serene environment, you’ll have the opportunity to showcase your talents across various dining settings, from intimate care home meals to bustling restaurant and clubhouse events.

  • Catering to residents, visitors and the public across the village which includes an 80 cover table d'hôtel Restaurant, 40 cover Bistro/Café bar, 40 cover Club House Café and 3 Care Home dining rooms.
  • Prepare and cook food in accordance with food hygiene regulations against a set menu to a consistent and high-quality standard.
  • Deliver front of house services to customers ensuring consistent standards.
  • Work within the extensive HACCP framework tailored to a Health Care Environment.
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic working area.
  • Respond to residents and customers dietary needs and personal preferences.

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

  • You are adept at catering for customers with special dietary requirements and have a solid understanding of health and safety procedures, ideally supported by an NVQ level 3 or equivalent City & Guilds and CIEH certification and demonstrable cooking skills.
  • Open to new ideas, you’ll have an innovative yet organised approach to cooking, always adhering to high standards and remaining calm during a busy service.
  • You’ll enjoy working with others, working together to create and deliver an excellent dining experience at each meal.
  • Because we care for vulnerable people, we’ll need you to complete a DBS check as part of the recruitment process. Bupa will cover the cost of this (£40).
