We’re looking for an enthusiastic Commiss Chef to join the team at The Wheelwrights Arms in Havant, part of Upham Inns.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves food, enjoys being part of a busy kitchen team and wants to develop their skills. Whether you already have some kitchen experience or you’re looking for the right place to build your career, we’ll give you the support, training and opportunities to progress.

Your role
As a Commis Chef, you’ll work alongside our experienced kitchen team, developing your skills while helping us deliver fresh, great-quality food for our guests.
You’ll get involved across the kitchen and learn what it takes to deliver consistently high standards, even when the kitchen is buzzing.

Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Assisting with food preparation and service
- Preparing vegetables, meat, fish and other ingredients
- Cooking and preparing elements of our dishes to the required standard
- Supporting the wider kitchen team during busy services
- Helping with deliveries, storage and restocking
- Supporting effective stock rotation and food labelling
- Keeping your section clean, organised and ready for service
- Maintaining high standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness
- Following all food safety, fire safety, health & safety, licensing and company procedures
- Playing your part in creating a kitchen we can all be proud of
What we’re looking for
You don’t need to know everything already. We’re looking for the right attitude, energy and willingness to learn.
Ideally, You’ll Have
- Some basic kitchen or food preparation experience
- A basic understanding of food hygiene and health & safety
- A passion for good food
- Strong attention to detail
- Good communication skills
- The ability to stay organised during a busy service
- A positive, approachable attitude
- A willingness to listen, learn and develop
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- The right to work in the UK
