Commis Chef – Appetizers | Shanghai Me
We’re looking for a passionate and motivated Commis Chef – Appetizers to join the kitchen at Shanghai Me, a luxury Asian restaurant delivering bold flavours, exceptional produce, and high-energy dining.
This is a great opportunity for an aspiring chef to develop their skills within a high-end Asian kitchen, working alongside an experienced brigade and learning the foundations of professional service.
What You’ll Do:
- Assist with the preparation of appetizers and starters to Shanghai Me’s high standards
- Support the Chef de Partie with daily mise en place and service
- Ensure dishes are prepared consistently, accurately, and with attention to presentation
- Keep your section clean, organised, and ready for service
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, and HACCP procedures
- Support the wider kitchen team with preparation, stock rotation, and daily routines

What We’re Looking For:
- Previous experience in a professional kitchen is preferred
- Asian or Chinese cuisine experience is desirable but not essential
- Genuine passion for food and a desire to develop your culinary skills
- Positive, reliable, and hardworking attitude
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Ability to work efficiently as part of a busy kitchen brigade
- Eligible to work in the UK
