Commis Chef
Location: Battersea Power Station
Job Overview
We are seeking dedicated Commis chefs to join us at The Hero’s Return. Successful candidates will be responsible for helping prepare high-quality dishes in accordance with our restaurant standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity for those passionate about cooking to develop their skills within a professional environment. Commis chefs will be responsible for cold preparations, overseen by a CDP or Sous chef, as well as ensuring all food safety regulations are adhered to and delivering exceptional food at a consistent standard.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and present dishes according to established recipes and standards
- Oversee specific sections of the kitchen, such as grill, pastry, or sauté stations
- Assist in the organisation and management of kitchen supplies and ingredients
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations to comply with food safety regulations
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient service during busy periods
- Monitor food quality and presentation before serving to guests
- Support junior kitchen staff with training and guidance as required
- Ensure adherence to health and safety standards at all times

Skills
- Basic knowledge of inner workings of a professional kitchen
- Keen interest in learning on the job
- Familiarity with food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Organisational skills with the ability to work to a deadline
- Good communication skills to coordinate effectively with your colleagues
- Previous restaurant experience not required, good for people looking for apprenticeship
