Mission

As a Commis Chef, you will support the kitchen team in delivering high-quality dishes that meet Meliá’s culinary standards. Working under the supervision of senior chefs, you will contribute to smooth kitchen operations, maintain excellent hygiene practices, and help ensure a consistent and memorable dining experience for our guests.

Key Responsibilities – Operational Excellence

  • Prepare basic food items and assist with dish production under the supervision of senior chefs
  • Complete assigned food preparations accurately and efficiently according to training received
  • Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and correct storage of food products in refrigerators and cold rooms
  • Ensure all required equipment and ingredients are available and used responsibly to minimise waste
  • Follow all recipes, specifications, and operational procedures defined by the kitchen leadership
  • Handle kitchen equipment safely at all times, complying with health & safety regulations
  • Maintain the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness in line with company policies
  • Ensure all products used meet quality and freshness standards, reporting any issues immediately
  • Communicate any operational challenges or service-impacting issues to your immediate supervisor
  • Comply fully with HACCP standards and food safety regulations
  • Support the wider kitchen team as required to ensure smooth service delivery

What we’re looking for

  • Previous experience in a kitchen or food preparation role (hotel or restaurant preferred)
  • A genuine passion for food, hospitality, and teamwork
  • Good understanding of hygiene, food safety, and HACCP standards
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • A positive, reliable, and professional attitude
  • Willingness to learn, develop, and grow within a global hospitality brand
