As a Commiss Chef, you will support the kitchen team in delivering quality food across the Etihad Campus, including Premium, Conference & Events, and Retail areas.

You will assist with food preparation, maintain good organisation within your section, and work closely with senior chefs to ensure dishes are prepared safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

This is a great opportunity to develop your skills, gain experience in a fast-paced environment, and build a strong foundation within a professional kitchen.

Day to Day Key Responsibilities

Kitchen Operations

  • Support your section during prep, service, and close-down
  • Assist with mise en place and service delivery, ensuring dishes are prepared to quality and presentation standards
  • Work flexibly across different kitchens or venues during busy periods and events

Food Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain high standards of hygiene and food safety in line with HACCP and allergen guidelines
  • Follow all kitchen procedures and report any issues or hazards to senior chefs

Team Support & Development

  • Work closely with senior chefs and support the wider kitchen team
  • Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a collaborative team environment
  • Demonstrate professionalism, punctuality, and willingness to learn

Menu & Product Development

  • Support the preparation and delivery of menu items
  • Assist with new dishes and menu updates as required

Essential

Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous experience in a kitchen environment (e.g. Commis Chef, Kitchen Assistant, or similar)
  • Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices (Level 2 Food Hygiene preferred or willingness to obtain)
  • Willingness to learn and develop cooking skills across different sections
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Good organisational skills and ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Positive attitude with good communication skills
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, matchdays, and event shifts

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 2 in Professional Cookery (or working towards)
  • Previous experience in a high-volume kitchen, hospitality, or event environment
  • Interest in developing a career within professional kitchens
