Commissioning Lead | Data Centre Projects | Manchester | Contract-to-Permanent Opportunity
We are currently supporting a leading engineering and commissioning organisation in the appointment of an experienced Commissioning Lead for a growing portfolio of Data Centre and Mission Critical projects based in Manchester.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced commissioning professional looking to join a business on a contract-to-permanent basis, with an initial 3-6 month contract period followed by a permanent position. You'll play a key role in leading commissioning activities, managing project delivery, and supporting the growth of the commissioning function across multiple high-profile projects.

- Job Title: Commissioning Lead

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage commissioning activities across multiple Data Centre and Mission Critical projects.
- Coordinate commissioning teams, subcontractors, consultants, and client stakeholders.
- Oversee commissioning programmes, test plans, procedures, and project documentation.
- Support mechanical and electrical commissioning activities from pre-commissioning through to handover.
- Manage Integrated Systems Testing (IST) and witness testing activities.
- Ensure commissioning works are delivered safely, on programme, and to the required quality standards.
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to commissioning engineers on site.
- Chair commissioning meetings and provide regular progress updates to project leadership.
- Review commissioning scripts, test packs, and handover documentation.
- Work closely with CSA, Mechanical, Electrical, BMS, and Controls teams to ensure successful system integration.

Essential:
- Proven experience in a Commissioning Lead, Commissioning Manager, or Senior Commissioning Engineer position.
- Strong understanding of commissioning processes within Data Centre, Mission Critical, Industrial, Energy, or Pharmaceutical environments.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary commissioning teams.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical building services systems.
- Experience delivering Integrated Systems Testing (IST) and project handovers.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams within a fast-paced project environment.
- Valid right to work in the UK.

Desirable:
- Previous experience working on hyperscale Data Centre projects.
- Commissioning certifications or relevant engineering qualifications.
- Experience working for commissioning consultancies, principal contractors, or specialist commissioning providers.
- Knowledge of BMS integration and controls commissioning.
- Experience working across CSA, Mechanical, Electrical, and Commissioning delivery teams.
