Commissioning Director (M/W)

Rooted in a history spanning over a century, Equans, a Bouygues group company, is a global leader in the energy and services sector. Axima Nuclear (900 employees, €217M revenue in 2025), an Equans entity, is the European leader in nuclear ventilation and fluid process systems. With more than 50 years of experience, we deliver end-to-end solutions ranging from engineering to maintenance for nuclear facilities. Our expertise covers new builds, modifications, and decommissioning preparation.

Commissioning Director (M/ W)

Location: Bristol (UK)

Your role and responsibilities:

Reporting to the Project Director, you will lead the commissioning strategy and execution for the EDG scope of the Hinkley Point C project, ensuring the successful transition from construction completion to operational readiness.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Defining and deploying the commissioning strategy and execution plan.
  • Managing commissioning teams throughout preparation, testing and handover phases.
  • Coordinating commissioning activities with engineering, construction, quality and client stakeholders.
  • Ensuring readiness of systems, documentation and resources for commissioning activities.
  • Managing commissioning schedules, priorities and interfaces across multiple workstreams.
  • Supervising system and integrated testing activities.
  • Ensuring compliance with nuclear, regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Driving resolution of technical issues, punch-list items and non-conformities.
  • Overseeing performance testing and final acceptance processes.
  • Supporting the client through handover and operational readiness activities.

Your profile :

  • Engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in commissioning management on large industrial projects.
  • Extensive experience within nuclear, power generation or highly regulated industries.
  • Strong knowledge of system testing, operational readiness and project handover processes.
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary commissioning teams.
  • Excellent ability to manage interfaces between engineering, construction and operations.
  • Strong communication, leadership and negotiation skills.
  • Fluent English required;
  • Experience working on EPC or major infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
