- Salary: Excellent Day Rate
- Duration: 12 Month Rolling Contract (3 Years+)
- Start Date: ASAP (Can Wait 4-8 Weeks)
- Working Pattern: Monday to Friday (10 Hour Days)
- Additional: Outside IR35
About the Role
We're currently supporting one of our key clients in securing an experienced 275kV Lead Commissioning Engineer / SAP for a major substation project in Teeside, England.
This is a crucial appointment with responsibility for leading 275kV substation commissioning and operational activities, while acting as a key interface with National Grid throughout the connection, energisation and handover programme.
The successful candidate will form part of the project's Operations & Commissioning team and provide the specialist 275kV expertise required to safely deliver the HV scope through commissioning, energisation, performance testing and final handover.

- Lead commissioning and operational activities across the project's 275kV HV systems
- Act as a senior HV Commissioning Engineer / SAP within the Operations & Commissioning team
- Take responsibility for HV switching, safety and operational activities
- Coordinate and interface with National Grid throughout the connection, commissioning and energisation programme
- Ensure activities are completed in accordance with applicable HV and National Grid safety requirements
- Support the development and implementation of HV safety rules, switching procedures and operational processes
- Assess competency and support the nomination/appointment of other personnel for HV operational duties
- Review commissioning procedures, switching schedules, test documentation and energisation plans
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to commissioning and electrical personnel
- Support the project through commissioning, energisation, operational readiness, performance testing and handover
- Work closely with Commissioning Management, Operations Management and engineering teams
Requirements
- Extensive 275kV and/or 400kV substation commissioning experience
- Strong background as a Lead Commissioning Engineer (& ideally a Senior Authorised Person (SAP))
- Current or previous TP141/BP141/SR141 authorisation is beneficial but not mandatory
- Proven HV switching and safety-rule competency
- Previous experience working on National Grid transmission projects or grid connections
- Strong understanding of National Grid safety rules, commissioning processes and operational requirements
- Experience interfacing directly with National Grid during commissioning and energisation
- Ability to lead HV commissioning activities and provide technical direction to wider project teams
