I am looking for a Commissioning Engineer to join an established international automation business supporting Data Centre projects in Newport, South Wales.
The opportunity
This is a hands-on commissioning position for an engineer who enjoys testing systems, investigating faults and getting controls ready for operation. You’ll work with the project team to commission data centre control systems, carry out point-to-point checks, support Level 2–4 testing and make PLC code changes where required.
Although the automation systems you'll work with will vary due to their vendor-neutral approach, their customers generally prefer Rockwell Automation and Ignition, so expertise in these would be desirable, although not required.

I’d like to speak with engineers who bring:
- Practical controls commissioning experience on data centre projects
- The ability to understand, troubleshoot and modify PLC code
- Experience with point-to-point checks and site testing procedures
- A methodical approach to fault-finding and documenting results
- Clear communication with engineers, contractors and customers
Rockwell PLC and Ignition experience would be particularly relevant.

Your strongest experience should be in project commissioning, with examples of systems you’ve personally tested, problems you’ve resolved and work you’ve taken through to completion.
