Insight Global are seeking a Commissioning Engineer to join a leading facilities management, fire and security organisation supporting major data centre projects across London.
Job Details
This position requires 5 days onsite in London for a permanent opportunity.
Role Description
The Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for managing commissioning activities across access control and security systems within hyperscale data centre environments. Working closely with project teams, subcontractors, and end clients, you will oversee the commissioning process from pre-commissioning through to final handover, ensuring systems are fully configured, tested, certified, and operational in line with project requirements and industry standards.
The role centres on managing the commissioning process from installation review through to final handover. You'll work closely with project teams and clients to coordinate testing activities, verify system performance, resolve programming issues, and ensure access control solutions are configured to project requirements. The position also involves validating integrations with CCTV and other security platforms, producing commissioning documentation, and supporting client demonstrations, witness testing, and final sign-off. While the primary focus is on Access Control systems, you will also contribute to CCTV commissioning across a range of projects throughout London.

Must-Have Requirements
- Experience commissioning Access Control systems within security, construction, engineering, or life safety environments
- Hands-on experience with Lenel OnGuard (Level 1 certification or equivalent practical experience)
- Experience working on data centre or hyperscale projects
- Strong understanding of commissioning processes from installation verification through to final handover
- Experience testing, configuring, and troubleshooting security systems
- Ability to produce commissioning documentation, certification records, and handover reports
- Client-facing experience including stakeholder meetings, demonstrations, and witness testing
- Experience reviewing installation quality against project specifications and industry standards
- Strong understanding of construction health & safety requirements, RAMS, and subcontractor management
- Current CSCS or ECS Card, or willingness to obtain one
- Ability to manage multiple projects, programmes, and commissioning deadlines simultaneously
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and reporting skills

Plusses
- CCTV commissioning experience including camera setup, programming, and field-of-view configuration
- Experience working with Axis cameras
- Knowledge of enterprise security platforms such as Milestone, Hikvision, C-Cure, or AMAG
- Fire and life safety system commissioning experience
- SSSTS or SMSTS certification
- Knowledge of British Standards, NACOSS requirements, and security industry best practices
- Experience with head-end configuration, IP addressing, networking, and system integrations
