Electrical Commissioning Engineer | Data Centre | North Acton | Outside IR35
We are currently supporting a leading Data Centre contractor in the appointment of experienced Electrical Commissioning Engineers for a major hyperscale data centre project in North Acton, London. This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-profile project and play a key role in the delivery of critical electrical systems from pre-commissioning through to client handover.
Role Details:
- Job Title: Electrical Commissioning Engineer
- Location: North Acton, London
- Duration: 12 Months (with potential extension)
- Start Date: Immediate / ASAP
- Contract Type: Outside IR35
- Onsite Requirement: 5 days onsite
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out and oversee electrical commissioning activities across mission-critical data centre systems.
- Manage and execute commissioning procedures for LV and MV electrical systems.
- Support pre-commissioning, functional testing, and integrated systems testing (IST).
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and client representatives throughout commissioning activities.
- Review and execute commissioning scripts, test procedures, and method statements.
- Witness and document factory acceptance tests (FATs), site acceptance tests (SATs), and integrated testing activities.
- Ensure all commissioning activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications.
- Identify, track, and close out commissioning issues through to successful completion.
- Work closely with Mechanical, BMS, Controls, and CSA teams to ensure seamless system integration.
- Prepare commissioning reports, test records, and handover documentation.

Essential:
- Proven experience as an Electrical Commissioning Engineer on Data Centre, Mission Critical, Pharmaceutical, or Large Industrial projects.
- Strong understanding of electrical commissioning processes and project delivery.
- Experience commissioning LV/MV distribution systems, transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, and associated electrical infrastructure.
- Experience supporting Integrated Systems Testing (IST) and client witnessing activities.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, drawings, and commissioning documentation.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety requirements within construction and commissioning environments.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently within a fast-paced project environment.
- Valid right to work in the UK.

Desirable:
- Previous experience on hyperscale data centre projects.
- Electrical engineering qualifications, apprenticeship, HNC/HND, Degree, or equivalent.
- Experience working for principal contractors, commissioning consultancies, or specialist commissioning providers.
- Knowledge of commissioning management software and QA/QC processes.
- Experience commissioning critical power systems including UPS, generators, STS/ATS systems, and EPMS integration.
- Familiarity with Cx processes and data centre commissioning best practices.
