We are currently supporting a leading Data Centre contractor in the appointment of experienced Mechanical & Electrical Commissioning Engineers for a major hyperscale data centre project in London. This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-profile project and play a key role in the commissioning and handover of critical infrastructure systems within a fast-paced mission-critical environment.
Role Details:
- Job Title: Mechanical & Electrical Commissioning Engineers
- Location: London, UK
- Duration: 12 Months (with potential extension)
- Start Date: ASAP
- Contract Type: Outside IR35
- Onsite Requirement: 5 days onsite
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute and oversee mechanical and electrical commissioning activities across the project lifecycle.
- Support pre-commissioning, commissioning, and integrated systems testing (IST) activities.
- Commission critical electrical systems including LV/MV distribution, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, transformers, and associated infrastructure.
- Commission mechanical systems including HVAC, CRAH/CRAC units, chilled water systems, pumps, and cooling infrastructure.
- Review commissioning procedures, test scripts, method statements, and commissioning documentation.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and client representatives to ensure successful delivery.
- Monitor commissioning progress and identify, track, and close out system issues.
- Ensure all commissioning activities are carried out safely and in accordance with project specifications and quality standards.
- Support witness testing activities, FATs, SATs, and client demonstrations.
- Work closely with BMS, Controls, CSA, Mechanical, and Electrical delivery teams to ensure successful system integration.
- Prepare and maintain commissioning records, reports, punch lists, and handover documentation.

Essential:
- Proven experience as a Mechanical or Electrical Commissioning Engineer on Data Centre, Mission Critical, Pharmaceutical, or Industrial projects.
- Strong understanding of commissioning processes within complex building services environments.
- Mechanical engineers should have experience commissioning HVAC, chilled water, cooling systems, pumps, and associated plant.
- Electrical engineers should have experience commissioning LV/MV systems, switchgear, UPS, generators, transformers, and associated infrastructure.
- Experience supporting Integrated Systems Testing (IST) and project handovers.
- Ability to review and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and commissioning documentation.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety procedures within construction and commissioning environments.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently within a fast-paced project environment.
- Valid right to work in the UK.

Desirable:
- Previous experience working on hyperscale data centre projects.
- Relevant engineering qualification, apprenticeship, HNC/HND, Degree, or equivalent.
- Experience working for principal contractors, commissioning consultants, or specialist commissioning providers.
- Knowledge of Cx management processes and commissioning software platforms.
- Experience working alongside BMS, Controls, CSA, Mechanical, Electrical, and Commissioning delivery teams.
- Strong understanding of mission-critical environments and client handover requirements.
