Hunter Philips is currently looking for an experienced 400kV Commissioning Engineer to support major transmission and substation projects across Scotland. The position would suit an established High Voltage Commissioning Engineer with strong experience working on SP Energy Networks (SPEN) and/or Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Commission High Voltage substation equipment up to 400kV.
- Carry out protection, control and electrical commissioning activities.
- Perform secondary injection and functional testing.
- Test protection relays, control systems and associated equipment.
- Complete trip testing, interlocking and scheme testing.
- Support energisation and final handover activities.
- Diagnose and resolve commissioning issues on site.
- Complete commissioning documentation and test records.
- Work closely with protection engineers, commissioning teams and site management.
- Ensure all activities comply with relevant network safety rules and commissioning procedures.

Experience Required
- Strong High Voltage substation commissioning experience.
- Experience working at 132kV, 275kV and/or 400kV.
- Previous SP Energy Networks (SPEN) and/or Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) project experience.
- Strong protection and control commissioning knowledge.
- Experience with protection relay testing and secondary injection.
- Knowledge of High Voltage transmission equipment and substation systems.
- Relevant network authorisations would be highly advantageous.
- Experience supporting energisation of transmission assets.
