Job Description
Location: Cherry Tree House, 49 Dobbins Lane, Wendover
Commissioning General Manager
Location: Wendover, Buckinghamshire
This isn't a job. It's an opportunity to build something extraordinary.
We've spent the last few years redefining what residential care can look like.
- What if we challenged everything we thought we knew about growing older?
- What if a care home could help people continue doing the things they love, remain part of their community, and live with purpose rather than simply just receive care?
Those questions became the foundation of Salveo Care's wellness philosophy, and they are the reason we're opening Wendover Manor.
We believe that, with the right environment, support and opportunities, older people can continue to enjoy meaningful relationships, remain part of their community, stay active in ways that matter to them, and live each day with purpose. That belief has shaped every decision we've made.
Wendover Manor isn't simply a new care home. It's the next chapter for Salveo Care and an opportunity to bring our vision to life in a purpose-built environment designed around wellness, independence and connection, while preserving the warmth, kindness and sense of home that have always defined us.
We're now looking for the person who will help bring that vision to life.
About The Role
ABOUT THE ROLE
As our Commissioning General Manager, you'll lead the final stages of preparing Wendover Manor for opening and create the culture that will define it for years to come.
- You'll recruit an outstanding leadership team, shape the resident experience, support the transition of residents and staff from Cherry Tree House, and create an environment where people genuinely love to live and work.
- You'll be equally comfortable discussing occupancy strategy with our executive team, welcoming a prospective family through the front door, chatting with residents over coffee, or supporting a member of staff who's had a difficult day.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Who We Are Looking For
We're looking for an exceptional leader who shares our belief that older people deserve extraordinary lives.
- You'll be someone who naturally creates calm, builds trust, and leads from the front.
- You're equally comfortable supporting a colleague, welcoming a new family, solving operational challenges, or celebrating the everyday moments that make a house feel like home.
You'll have experience of commissioning, or playing a significant role in opening, a new care service and understand the complexities that come with it. More importantly, you'll have the passion, resilience and leadership to build something truly special from the ground up.
We're looking for someone who believes that the little things matter, that high standards and kindness go hand in hand, and that doing the right thing should always come before doing the easy thing.
At Salveo Care, we don't measure success simply by occupancy, awards or growth. We measure it by the lives we improve, the trust we build with families, and the pride our team feels in the work they do every day. We understand the responsibility that comes with caring for people at one of the most important stages of their lives, and we're looking for someone who shares that sense of purpose.
If you're motivated by creating an outstanding culture, empowering people to do their best work, and helping redefine what ageing can look like, we'd love to hear from you.
WHY SALVEO CARE?
Because we're building more than a care home. We're building a place where older people can continue to live well, surrounded by people who genuinely care.
We're a family-owned provider with deep roots in our local community, and we're not afraid to challenge the way things have always been done. We believe ageing should be filled with purpose, connection and opportunity, and that great care is about enabling people to live the life they choose, not simply supporting them when they can't.
We're looking for people who share that belief.

- People who take pride in the little things because they know they make a big difference.
- People who hold themselves to high standards, not because someone is watching, but because it's the right thing to do.
- People who understand the privilege and responsibility that comes with caring for others and want to leave the sector better than they found it.
If you're excited by the opportunity to help shape a new home, challenge perceptions of ageing, and build a culture where residents, families and colleagues thrive, you'll feel at home here.
