I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Working directly with senior operational leadership, the successful candidate will build the founding team, embed the culture, and position the home as a benchmark within the group's growing regional portfolio.
Candidate
We are seeking an experienced Registered Manager or Commissioning Home Manager with genuine commercial instinct and a values-led approach to residential and nursing care. You will bring a track record of Good or Outstanding CQC outcomes, comfort with occupancy build from a standing start, and a specific and evidenced approach to community referral development.
You will combine operational and clinical credibility with commercial fluency – occupancy, fee mix, agency control, home-level profitability – and the confidence to move between board-level KPI conversations and day-to-day operational decisions on the floor.
Experience across premium residential, dementia and nursing configurations of 50+ beds is essential, as is the appetite to lead a new-build through every stage of the commissioning journey. Above all, the successful candidate will be motivated by purpose and comfortable in a high-trust, high-autonomy environment where the standards, reputation and culture of the home are theirs to build from day one.
