Mechanical Commissioning Lead – Client Side

Cardiff | 8-Month Contract | All-In Rate | Prestigious Client

We are working with a prestigious client on a major, high-profile project in Cardiff and are looking for an exceptional Mechanical Commissioning Lead to join the team for an 8-month assignment.

This is a client-side leadership role for an experienced commissioning professional who can take ownership of the mechanical commissioning strategy through the final and most critical stages of the project.

The project is currently approaching the tail end of Level 3 commissioning, so we are specifically looking for someone with a strong track record in L4, L5 and IST commissioning who can step in, provide leadership and drive the project through to successful completion.

The Role

As Mechanical Commissioning Lead, you will take a senior position within the client's commissioning team, working closely with the CXA Project Manager, Account Lead and General Contractor to ensure the remaining commissioning programme is delivered safely, effectively and to the required standards.

You will be responsible for providing strong technical and managerial oversight across the mechanical commissioning process, with a particular focus on L4/L5 testing and Integrated Systems Testing (IST).

This is a role where you will need to be comfortable operating at both strategic and delivery level — challenging the GC when required, coordinating multiple stakeholders and ensuring the commissioning programme remains on track.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
