Mechanical Commissioning Manager | Pharmaceutical Project | Cardiff, Wales
We are currently supporting a leading contractor in the appointment of an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Manager for a major pharmaceutical project based near Cardiff, Wales.
This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically biased commissioning professional to take ownership of the commissioning process, leading activities from planning and coordination through to testing, turnover and final handover.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a complex pharmaceutical facility, working closely with package managers, subcontractors and project stakeholders to ensure systems are commissioned safely, efficiently and in line with project requirements.

- Lead and manage commissioning activities across approximately 45 mechanical and utility systems.
- Develop and manage commissioning programmes, schedules and testing activities.
- Coordinate package managers, subcontractors, vendors and project stakeholders.
- Oversee flushing, pressure testing, cleaning, mechanical completion and commissioning activities.
- Manage commissioning documentation, procedures, test packs and handover records.
- Chair commissioning meetings and provide progress updates to project leadership.
- Drive systems through turnover and final client handover.
- Ensure commissioning activities are completed safely, compliantly and to programme.
Essential Experience
- Proven experience as a Commissioning Manager, Mechanical Commissioning Manager, Commissioning Lead or similar.
- Strong background in Mechanical and MEP Commissioning.
- Experience commissioning:
- Stainless Steel Process Pipework
- Mechanical Utilities
- HVAC Systems
- Chilled Water Systems
- Heating Water Systems
- Process Air Systems
- Building Services Infrastructure
- Experience managing commissioning programmes through to handover.
- Strong stakeholder management and subcontractor coordination experience.
- Ability to oversee multiple systems and workstreams simultaneously.

Desirable Experience
- Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Life Sciences or GMP-regulated project experience.
- Cleanroom, process facility or advanced manufacturing project experience.
- Experience with process piping, utility systems and mechanical completions.
- Previous experience working with major MEP contractors or pharmaceutical delivery teams.
