Mechanical Commissioning Manager | Data Centre Projects | Manchester & London | Outside IR35

We are currently supporting a number of leading contractors in the appointment of experienced Mechanical Commissioning Managers for major Data Centre projects across Manchester and London.

This is an excellent opportunity for mechanically biased commissioning professionals to take ownership of the commissioning process, leading activities from planning and coordination through to testing, turnover and final handover.

Job Title: Mechanical Commissioning Manager

Location: Manchester & London

Contract Type: Contract

Duration: 6-12 Months+

IR35 Status: Outside IR35

Rate: Competitive Day Rate

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage mechanical commissioning activities across critical systems.
  • Develop and manage commissioning programmes, schedules and testing activities.
  • Coordinate package managers, subcontractors, vendors and project stakeholders.
  • Oversee mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, commissioning and turnover activities.
  • Manage commissioning documentation, procedures, test packs and handover records.
  • Chair commissioning meetings and provide progress updates to project leadership.
  • Drive systems through Integrated Systems Testing (IST) and client handover.
  • Ensure commissioning activities are completed safely, compliantly and to programme.

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Commissioning Manager, Commissioning Manager, Commissioning Lead or similar.
  • Strong background in Mechanical and MEP Commissioning.
  • Experience commissioning:
    • Chilled Water Systems
    • HVAC Systems
    • CRAH & CRAC Units
    • Cooling Infrastructure
    • LTHW Systems
    • Building Services Infrastructure
    • Process & Utility Systems
  • Experience managing commissioning programmes through to handover.
  • Strong stakeholder management and subcontractor coordination experience.
  • Ability to oversee multiple systems and workstreams simultaneously.

Desirable Experience

  • Data Centre project experience.
  • Mission Critical facility experience.
  • Previous experience working for major MEP contractors.
  • Experience with Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
  • Knowledge of commissioning software and digital turnover platforms.
  • Experience delivering projects through to client acceptance and operational readiness.
