Our client is currently looking to recruit a Commissioning Officer on an initial 6 month contract.

Brighton - Hybrid

Day rate negotiable


We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Officer to lead a high-profile commissioning project within a fast-paced environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a strategic and delivery-focused professional who can work independently, engage confidently with senior stakeholders, and progress a commissioning programme within a challenging timescale.

About the Role

The successful candidate will bring substantial commissioning experience, ideally gained within housing, homelessness, supported accommodation, public health, or other related local authority services.

Working closely with senior leaders and partners, you will provide strategic commissioning expertise and ensure the successful delivery of key project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and develop service specifications and commissioning intentions.
  • Support procurement and recommissioning activities.
  • Engage effectively with stakeholders, partners, and service providers.
  • Develop project plans, options appraisals, and associated documentation.
  • Navigate and work within local authority governance and decision-making processes.
  • Provide strategic commissioning advice and programme management support.

You will have:

  • Significant experience in commissioning within a local authority or public sector setting.
  • Knowledge of commissioning, procurement, and service redesign.
  • Experience within housing, homelessness, supported accommodation, public health, or a related service area.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively at a senior level.
  • The ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality outcomes within tight timescales.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and report-writing skills.
