Commissioning Supervisor

Location: Hybrid – 3 days on site, 2 days at home (including overnight stays)
Salary: £55,000 to £65,000 DOE
Hours: Full-time

Belectric UK is seeking a Commissioning Supervisor to join our growing commissioning team. In this role, you’ll supervise and deliver the commissioning of all solar PV and battery energy storage projects.

What You’ll Be Doing

Commissioning Delivery

  • Take ownership of all commissioning activities across Solar PV and BESS projects, ensuring works are delivered safely, compliantly and in line with project programmes from pre-energisation to final handover.
  • Coordinate commissioning teams, subcontractors, and key stakeholders while maintaining commissioning documentation, managing risks, and supporting regulatory compliance and project handover requirements.

High Voltage Systems

  • Oversee the testing and commissioning of HV systems, including switchgear, transformers, protection schemes, and associated plant, ensuring protection settings, functional testing, and all energisation activities comply with relevant standards, grid requirements, and project specifications.

Low Voltage & Transformer Stations

  • Supervise the commissioning of transformer stations, distribution boards, and associated LV systems, verifying protection discrimination, cabling, and termination integrity to ensure safe and compliant operation.

Battery Energy Storage Systems

  • Commission and verify BESS and power conversion systems, including PCS, DC/DC converters, battery integration, EMS/SCADA interfaces, grid connectivity, functional testing, and battery conditioning activities where required.
  • Verify and test earthing and bonding systems, including EPR assessments, earth resistance, and touch/step potential testing, ensuring compliance with project requirements, DNO standards, and statutory regulations.

Solar PV

  • Supervise and verify PV system commissioning activities, including string and module testing, inverter commissioning, system integration, and the investigation and resolution of performance or fault issues.
  • Interpret electrical schematics and single-line diagrams (SLDs), identifying and managing discrepancies between design documentation and as-built installations through effective technical query resolution.

Stakeholder & DNO Liaison

  • Act as the primary commissioning interface with DNOs, clients, contractors, and equipment manufacturers, coordinating witness testing, energisation approvals, and commissioning activities while providing project updates and escalating technical risks and issues.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in HV switchgear, transformer, and associated plant commissioning.
  • Experience with LV transformer stations and distribution systems.
  • Experience commissioning BESS, including AC/DC and DC/DC conversion equipment.
  • Sound knowledge of earthing system design principles and EPR assessment.
  • Experience in PV module/string testing methodologies.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret detailed electrical schematics and SLDs.
  • Experience liaising directly with DNOs and client/stakeholder representatives.
  • Working knowledge of BS 7671, IEC 60364, and UK grid code requirements (G99/G100).
