The Role

You will be the firm’s subject matter expert on commodities regulation and the primary compliance adviser to the trading desks. The firm trades across a range of commodities, with power and gas the core focus across Europe, the UK and the US. This is a rare opportunity to build and shape a global commodities compliance framework from the outset, with direct access to senior leadership and the front office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day regulatory advice to commodities trading desks across European, UK and US power and gas markets
  • Lead on REMIT compliance, including inside information, transaction reporting, registration and STOR obligations
  • Advise on US commodities regulation, including CFTC rules on position limits and anti-manipulation, and FERC oversight of power and gas markets
  • Design and build the firm’s commodities compliance framework, including policies, procedures and controls
  • Advise on market abuse, position limits and reporting obligations across MAR, MiFID II and EMIR
  • Work with surveillance teams to develop monitoring tailored to commodities trading
  • Track regulatory developments, including REMIT II, and translate them into practical guidance for the business
  • Act as the key point of contact for energy regulators, including Ofgem, ACER, the CFTC and FERC, on commodities matters

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
