Commodity Food Trader

International Food Manufacturer
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commodity Food Trader to join a large and highly successful international manufacturer operating within the commodity foods sector.
We are looking for an established food commodity trading professional who can hit the ground running, bringing strong commercial awareness, market knowledge and the ability to develop profitable trading opportunities.
We are keen to hear from successful traders from any food commodity background.

The Role
Working as part of an international commercial operation, you will be responsible for developing and managing trading activity, building strong relationships with customers and suppliers and identifying opportunities to grow both sales and margin.
Key responsibilities will include:

  • Buying and selling food commodities within UK and international markets
  • Developing new trading opportunities and building a profitable customer portfolio
  • Managing and developing existing customer and supplier relationships
  • Negotiating pricing, volumes, contracts and commercial terms
  • Monitoring commodity markets, availability, pricing and supply trends
  • Identifying opportunities to maximise margins and commercial returns
  • Working closely with international colleagues, suppliers and customers

The Candidate
We are looking for someone with proven food commodity trading experience who is comfortable operating in a fast-moving, commercially driven environment.
You could currently be trading dried fruits, nuts, seeds, grains, pulses, rice, spices, oils, cocoa, sugar, fruit ingredients or another food commodity.
Most importantly, you will:

  • Have a successful track record within food commodity trading
  • Be commercially astute with strong negotiation skills
  • Understand commodity markets, pricing and margin management
  • Have the confidence and experience to hit the ground running
  • Be capable of developing new business as well as managing established relationships
  • Be entrepreneurial, proactive and comfortable making commercial decisions
