Trading Support Assistant
Location: West Yorkshire
Contract: Permanent, full-time – On site
Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000
About Us
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established, family-owned food business in West Yorkshire, known for exceptional product quality, innovation, and industry-leading animal welfare standards. Our client oversees the entire supply chain, from livestock procurement through butchery, packaging, and despatch, supplying supermarkets and restaurants nationwide.
The Role
Our client is looking for a Trading Support Assistant to join their Trading team, supporting day-to-day trading operations, maintaining accurate inventory records, and helping to identify and develop new customer leads.

Key Responsibilities
- Support all aspects of the trading operation:
- Process daily purchase and sales orders
- Coordinate tracking with cold storage facilities
- Manage supplier shipping schedules
- Prepare export documentation
- Manage order revisions
- Keep accurate stock records:
- Take ownership of the internal inventory system
- Audit stock volumes
- Track intake dates
- Monitor product shelf-life
- Flag low-inventory warnings
- Investigate new customer leads:
- Research potential new clients, such as food service wholesalers, manufacturers, or retail accounts
- Follow up leads through cold outreach
- Present findings to the Trading Manager

About You
- Degree in Business, Agribusiness, Food Science, or equivalent commercial experience
- Confident, clear communicator with strong phone and email skills for identifying and contacting new customer leads
- Able to communicate effectively at all levels of the business
- A second European language is desirable
- Intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills for inventory management
- Highly motivated, delivery-focused, and able to prioritise and meet deadlines
- Strong organisational skills, natural curiosity about cross-departmental operations, and comfortable balancing multiple data-driven tasks
