Wild Oak Seeks Communications Volunteer for The Wellspring
Wild Oak runs The Wellspring — a nature-based co-mentoring programme for men in South Dartmoor. Can you help us produce compelling materials that bring this work to the attention of GP surgeries and social prescribers?
What difference will you make?
The Wellspring works. We have the outcomes data and the participant stories to prove it. What we need now is the ability to put that evidence in front of the right people, in a form they'll engage with.
With your support, Wild Oak will be able to approach GP surgeries and social prescribers with confidence — with materials that are clear, credible, and tailored to a clinical audience. This will directly accelerate our ability to build referral pathways, grow our participant numbers, and demonstrate the kind of reach that funders and commissioners want to see.
Beyond the immediate outreach push, the materials and systems you help us develop will strengthen everything else we do — from grant applications to community engagement. Getting our communications right now will lay the groundwork for Wild Oak to grow sustainably and reach more of the men in South Dartmoor who need it most.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
We're looking for someone with a strong background in communications, marketing, or public health messaging — ideally with experience producing materials for or within a clinical, NHS, or social care setting. An understanding of how primary care works, and what GP surgeries and social prescribers need to see before making referrals, would be a significant advantage.
Just as important as professional experience is the kind of person you are. Wild Oak's work is relational at its core, and we'd love to connect with someone who is genuinely motivated by community wellbeing and who finds meaning in being of service to a cause they believe in. An affinity with our mission — supporting men's mental health and connection through nature — will go a long way.
Above all, we're looking for someone who can translate passion and evidence into clear, professional materials — and who is happy to work collaboratively with a founder who knows his programme inside out but would benefit from a skilled communicator's perspective.

What will you be doing?
Wild Oak CIC is a small but growing nature-based men's wellbeing organisation based in Buckfastleigh, South Devon. We run The Wellspring — a co-mentoring and ecotherapy programme for men in South Dartmoor — and are at a pivotal moment we have a strong evidence base, growing referral partnerships, and real momentum. What we need now is help communicating our work clearly and compellingly to the people who can refer men into our programme.

Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
We're looking for an experienced communications or marketing volunteer to help us develop professional outreach materials aimed primarily at GP surgeries, Primary Care Networks, and social prescribing link workers. This might include one-page programme summaries, referral guides, impact snapshots, and email outreach templates — materials that speak the language of primary care and make it easy for clinicians to understand what we offer and how to refer.
Alongside this, we'd welcome support with broader awareness raising — helping us make better use of our existing website and newsletter to reach potential participants, funders, and community partners across South Dartmoor.
You'd be working directly with Ollie, Wild Oak's founder and director, on a focused, project-based basis — bringing your professional eye to materials that will open doors for the programme and the men it serves.
